The Procedure of Water Drilling
The Cost of Borehole Drilling in Zimbabwe involves several key stages:
1. Geological Survey (Siting)
A Geological Survey (Borehole Siting) accesses the geographical landscape and composition of your ground and ascertains the location and depth at which the water drilling should take place.
2. Drilling and Casing
The Mobilization of the Drilling Rigs is done once payment has been settled. Upon reaching the site, our Borehole Drilling Rig locates the area identified by the hydrogeologist as suitable for drilling. The machine uses a bit and a hammer to penetrate the ground and rods which further push the head of the drill towards the ground. The penetration continues until the drill reaches the required depth. The drill usually passes through a water-bearing formation as it is drilling. A Borehole Casing of the Borehole is usually done after the required depth is reached.
4. Yield Testing
This stage is crucial as it conducts a chemical analysis of the water to determine its suitability for use. Sometimes a blow yield test is done with the Rig. Blow Yield Test is the rate at which water is blown from a borehole during drilling. A blow yield test is usually conducted once the borehole is completed to provide an indication of borehole yield.
Why is blowing yield important? Blow yield gives an indication of the rate at which groundwater can be abstracted from a borehole.
5. Securing The Borehole
Top Slabs are inserted and a cap is usually put on the borehole.
6. Water Collection

Fact 1: Know Your Borehole Casings
The Preferred Borehole Casing In Zimbabwe Is Class 9 and 10 (Pressure Classes.)
This is because Class 9 and Class 10 Casings are more collapse resistant. The strength of a Casing is often described as collapse resistance.
Fact 2: Borehole Drilling Depth
The exact depth, of where the water is located, cannot be established by the drilling contractor nor the Water Surveyor (Borehole Siter).
Fact 3: There Is No 100% Guarantee
It is important to note that it is never a 100% guarantee that any hole will yield water, the amount and water quality can also not be guaranteed by the drilling contractor and water surveyor.
Fact 4: Siting Is Important
Making use of a hydrologist or traditional water diviner will increase your chances of having a successful borehole that will yield a sufficient amount of water.
