Borehole Season Is Here: Unlock Reliable Water with Nakiso Borehole Drilling’s Expert Siting & Drilling Services

In Zimbabwe, where seasonal droughts and unreliable municipal water supplies are a growing concern, the arrival of borehole season is more than a calendar event—it’s a lifeline. At Nakiso Borehole Drilling, we believe that every household, farm, and business deserves access to clean, sustainable water. And it all begins with one powerful solution: borehole drilling.

What Is Borehole Drilling?

Borehole drilling is the process of creating a deep, narrow shaft into the earth to access underground water reserves known as aquifers. Unlike shallow wells, boreholes reach deeper, more stable water sources, making them ideal for long-term use.

The process typically involves:

  1. Site Survey & Siting: Using geological tools and local expertise, we identify the most promising location for water.
  2. Drilling: Specialized rigs drill down—sometimes hundreds of meters—through soil and rock layers.
  3. Casing & Installation: A protective casing is inserted to prevent collapse and contamination.
  4. Pump Installation: A submersible pump is fitted to extract water efficiently.
  5. Water Testing: Ensuring the water meets safety standards for drinking, irrigation, or industrial use.

Why Boreholes Are a Game-Changer

Boreholes offer a host of benefits that make them an essential investment for Zimbabwean communities:

1. Reliable Water Supply

Municipal water systems are often strained, especially during dry seasons. Boreholes provide a consistent and independent source of water, even when surface water dries up.

2. Sustainability

Groundwater is naturally replenished and less vulnerable to evaporation. Boreholes tap into these reserves, offering a long-term solution to water scarcity.

3. Cost-Effective Over Time

While initial drilling costs may seem high, boreholes reduce reliance on expensive water deliveries or municipal bills. Over time, they become more economical.

4. Versatility

Borehole water can be used for:

  • Drinking (with proper treatment)
  • Irrigation for crops
  • Livestock watering
  • Industrial processes
  • Construction and cleaning

5. High Water Quality

Deep aquifers often contain cleaner water than surface sources, though testing and filtration may be needed depending on the geology.

Why Expert Siting Is Crucial

Drilling without proper siting is like throwing darts in the dark. At Nakiso, our siting services use a combination of:

  • Hydrogeological surveys
  • Geophysical mapping
  • Local terrain analysis

This ensures we maximize your chances of striking water on the first attempt, saving you time and money.

Fact 1: Know Your Borehole Casings

The Preferred Borehole Casing In Zimbabwe Is Class 9 and 10 (Pressure Classes.)

This is because Class 9 and Class 10 Casings are more collapse resistant. The strength of a Casing is often described as collapse resistance.

Fact 2: Borehole Drilling Depth

The exact depth, of where the water is located, cannot be established by the drilling contractor nor the Water Surveyor (Borehole Siter).

Fact 3: There Is No 100% Guarantee

It is important to note that it is never a 100% guarantee that any hole will yield water, the amount and water quality can also not be guaranteed by the drilling contractor and water surveyor.

Fact 4: Siting Is Important
Fact 5: Know The Risks
